Season 7 (also known as Day 7) premiered on January 11, 2009 on the FOX network with a special four-hour two-day premiere. Day 7 takes place four years after the events of Day 6, and begins at 8:00 AM.

CTU has been disbanded and Jack Bauer is now on his own and currently on trial in Washington, DC for his past actions. Jack gets called in to the FBI by Agent Renee Walker, and they reveal that there's a major national security incident because the firewall responsible for protecting America's government computer infrastructure is breached. It's then revealed that one of the men behind the attack is Tony Almeida, Jack's old CTU colleague who was believed to have been killed during the events of Day 5.

Before the premiere of Season 7, a special two-hour prequel TV-movie, 24: Redemption aired to bridge the gap between seasons.

The Season 7 DVD was released on May 19, 2008
