Paula Schaeffer was a new computer programmer at CTU: Los Angeles during Day 2.
Day 2
We meet Paula Schaeffer in the beginning of Day 2 as a new programmer at CTU. She loved her job and tried to her best, sometimes to the annoyance of others. During Day 2, CTU experienced the nuclear bomb threat and Schaeffer became too scared. Tony Almeida and Michelle Dessler are able to convince her of her worth.
There is a warning of a bomb in CTU and everyone is evacuated. Paula stays at a workstation, desperately trying to save important Intel. Tony Almeida tries to get her to leave, but Paula ignores him, saying it will only take a few more seconds. The bomb goes off, and Paula is crushed by the platform her workstation is located on. She was severely injured and in desperate need of medical attention.
We will never know if a hospital visit would have saved Paul or not. George Mason needed the Intel and convinced Paula to stay to try to give Michelle the codes to her information volume. Paula is painfully able to relate the code to Michelle who tells her that she helped to save many lives. George Mason tells Paula she does a great job. Paula gave a smile and went unconscious. She died after the medics were unable to revive her.
