Alan Milliken was highly involved in Washington Politics and was a good friend of David Palmer, who he financially supported during his presidential campaign.

Day 3

When Alan finds out that Wayne Palmer had an affair with his wife Julia, he threatens to stop backing David Palmer unless he fires his brother, which he refuses.

Sherry Palmer digs up dirt on Alan at the request of David, and goes to Alan's house in hope of having Julia help her. This wakes Alan, who goes to confront Sherry on the matter. This hostile interaction causes Alan to have a heart attack, and soon dies with Sherry not allowing any aid for him.
